Hello and welcome back to the Key Stage Two Blog!
With half a term under our belts, I can't quite believe that the academic year is one sixth of the way in! I could have sworn that we only came back from the summer holidays five minutes ago! Needless to say, we have had another fabulous week in both Year Groups so this week's Blog is a bit of an epic - I warn you now!
Celebration Assembly
It was lovely to see all 103 (I recounted the lists!) parents, grandparents and carers at Tuesday's Celebration Assembly. Despite me nearly having a meltdown when the technology decided to fail, it was a terrific assembly with so many wonderful successes to celebrate.
Here are a few pictures kindly taken my an unsuspecting Mrs Arnott who just happened to be sitting in the front row!
What a fabulous group of children we have in Year Five! Huge congratulations to everyone who received a stripe. If you didn't get one this time then don't despair as we will be presenting the next batch during our Christmas Celebration Assemblies that will be held on Friday 21st December 2018. These assemblies will be for Year Five and Six (but not at the same time!) The timings will be a bit different as this tends to be a longer assembly so as soon as we have settled on times then I will let you know as soon as possible!
I can't wait for the next one! Hopefully the Data Projector will behave itself this time...!
Sporting Stars
The pink cards of sporting loveliness continue to be handed out and this week I was besieged by very proud Year Six children who proudly told me how they came by this rather prestigious documentation.
Here are a few of the children who received a commendation this week from the PE Department...
Worth a Mention Children
I love these boards! I am always so impressed with the reasons why children have been included.
Let's start with Year Five this week:
Is that lovely Mrs Daniel spoiling us with more drawing? Twice? Steady on there!
Now let's see who has been chosen in Year Six this week:
Absolutely brilliant! Well done one and all! A special 'Well Done' to Mr Haigh who was the first Year Six Tutor to write up his names! This Gold Star is for you!
Golden Time
Sadly, 44 children in Key Stage Two missed their Golden Time this week. The room was pretty packed, I can tell you! The main reason this week was that many diaries hadn't been signed for the previous week but that is something that can be fixed quite easily.
However, congratulations to the 260 children who did get their Golden Time - brilliant! I hope those who chose to stay outside didn't get too soggy!
Training Day
Just a quick reminder that you come back to school on Tuesday 30th October as there is a staff training day on the Monday.
Probably best not to turn up - it will save blushes all round!
Parent Consultations
Thank you to all the parents who attended Year Five's recent Parent Consultation Evenings. We hope that you found it informative and that you have a good picture of how your child is settling in at Dorchester Middle School.
I would like to say a special 'Thank You' to all the patient parents whose appointment times ran over - you were so lovely and understanding which is greatly appreciated!
Non Uniform Day
On Friday, we all embraced and took part in our Sports - themed Non Uniform Day. We have raise over £520 to put towards gazebos that will be purchased by the PE Department for Sports Day and other future sporting events.
Even the office staff entered into the spirit of the day...
Brilliant!
Before School - a reminder!
Just to remind you that children are not to be on the school premises before 8.35am. We have noticed that quite a few children are on site long before this time. Please be aware that there is no adult supervision on the playground before this time.
Well, that's it for another week - actually, two weeks as we are now officially on half term.I don't think a post about my half term holiday would be the most exciting thing in the world for you to read!
I hope you all have a fabulous half term and that you all get a chance to recharge your batteries - I know for a fact that mine have run very low and will need a lot of power to get them going again!
I will look forward to seeing you back here in November for more fun, frolics and celebrating all things Key Stage Two!
Mrs Ray
(who has got a rather hectic half term ahead including tackling the EU Marking Mountain that has accumulated on my Dining Room Table!)
PS - I do plan on doing a few more runs though! Here is me and Miss Clements at the Dorchester Dash 10km last weekend.
