Hello and welcome back to the Key Stage Two Blog!
Another hectic week under our belts, another four day week to completely and utterly confuse me. Again.
As we hurtle towards half term, we have so much to do! Next week is a big week for our amazing Year Six children. We also had great fun welcoming our new recruits into the school on our annual open morning on Saturday.
Let's have a further look at what the Key Stage Two Gang have been up to this week...
The Extra Mile
In Year Five, we continue to look at instructions in their various guises.
Mr Murray set his Year Five English Group a rather excellent Homework based on 'How to Catch a Dragon' but instead of catching a Dragon, they could write the instructions on an alternative of their choosing.
Noah decided to write the instructions on 'How to catch the Infamous Mr Haigh'
This incredible young man decided to write it in not one, not two but THREE languages: English, French and Swahili!
It took him three hours! Noah, I'm not surprised! Well done young man - what a truly excellent homework.
Dorchester University
Every Friday afternoon, the whole school participates in Dorchester University. One of the modules is Circus Skills with Miss Enever.
Here are a few of our lovely Key Stage Two children enjoying the whole experience. It looks like a lot of fun with a lot of very accomplished performers are in our midst!
Worth a Mention Children
This has to to be one of the highlights of writing this Blog - seeing who has been chosen by their teachers to be written on the coveted Worth a Mention Children Boards.
Let's start with Year Five this week:
Now for Year Six:
Absolutely brilliant - congratulations to you all!
Year Six Paulton's Park Trip
Not long now!
Hopefully, you all received the letters to tell you what the day will entail and what the children will need for the duration. Please make sure that you return the completed 'Getting Home' slip and return it school ASAP so we can collate this information so the teachers are aware of how the children are leaving the school premises. As with our British Museum trip last year, we will not let the children who are going home with an adult leave the school site until each child has been accounted for. Please be patient as we do this, it always takes a bit of time.
There are a few outstanding permission slips and payments - please return them to the office as soon as possible!
Here's to a successful, happy and scream-worthy trip!
Year Five Hampton Court
Well Year Five, the letters have gone home and now we can start getting excited and look forward to our Hampton Court trip on Friday 7th June. This visit will be instrumental in helping us to understand and learn more about The Tudors - Henry VIII in particular.
We are going the week after we come back from half term so please make sure that you get your permission slips and payment in as soon as possible.
Open Morning
It was lovely to see so many Year Four children and their families at our annual Open Morning on Saturday. It was great to put some faces to the names that we have been looking at over the last couple of weeks.
The Year Five Guides were terrific and really did do us proud...
The brilliant PTFA served teas, coffees and brought in yummy homemade cakes for everyone to enjoy. They are a fabulous group and I so hope that a few of our new parents will join us in September. A lot has been achieved in a relatively short space of time.
A huge thank you to all the members of staff who gave up their Saturday morning meeting the children and their parents throughout the morning - it is hugely appreciated.
What a team!
Well, that's it for next week! We have got a really busy week coming up with SATs so Year Six, make sure you get to bed nice and early so that your batteries are charged, ready for the off!
Have a good week everyone and, depending if I survive Paulton's on Friday, I'll see you back here next week!
Mrs Ray
(who thought she would share the cuteness. Well, it would be rude not to!)
