Preparing the way...

Hello and welcome back to the Key Stage Two Blog!

I hope you have all a good week and have just about recovered from a combination of monsoon season and the dry season! We have certainly experienced a varied week as far as school is concerned as well. The staff have all been working really hard behind the scenes in order to deliver super experiences for the children from Sports Day to next week's Transfer Day. Seeing the children having a brilliant time is the best experience in the world isn't it?

Anyway, enough of the Ray Ramblings, let's crack on with this week's Blog.

We're back!

Last week was Damers, this week was Prince of Wales. The Year Five children that I have taken back to visit the Year Four children have been super and this week's cohort was no exception.

The children had a fabulous time  - the reminiscing started from the moment we left our school gates to the moment we returned about an hour and a half later.
The Year Four children were great even though they were ridiculously excited about their residential the next day.

Thank you to the children who I took with me, they were a real credit to our school and a testimony to their time at Prince of Wales.

Enterprising Year Five

The fundraising continued this week with 5MW and 5AD selling biscuits and a drink on Tuesday break time.

Well done and thank you to all who took part. More money was raised towards an end of term treat for Year Five.
I bet it's all starting to stack up now isn't it?

Is there a Doctor in the house?

The wonderful Mrs Schnorr is one of our brilliant parent helpers and has been helping my Year Six English group. For those who know me, Dr Ray is someone who is available for writing consultations when it comes to editing work.

Mrs Schnorr is now officially my trainee as she was handed the coveted stethoscope this week.

Don't worry - full training will be given!

Sports Day - Part One

Ah! Sports Day! An incredible feat of organisation in itself! Huge congratulations to the PE Department for putting on such an outstanding day. From beginning to end, the day was professionally run and it was, quite frankly, seamless!

Miss Enever took lots of fabulous pictures so I will endeavour to include them in next week's Blog.

I felt quite emotional watching everyone take part. Everyone put their heart and souls into what they were doing.

What a fabulous day!

Lots of you have signed up for the day at Weymouth Outdoor Education Centre on the 11th and 12th July which is terrific.
We do have a few spaces left so even though the deadline has passed, if you get in there quick you may well be able to come and join in the fun!

Get your slip and dosh in as soon as possible and you too could be joining us for one of the funnest days of the year!

Summer Fair

Many, many thanks to all the fabulous children and adults who have volunteered to help run our first PTFA Summer Fair - it's going to be brilliant!

The fun and games start at 3.30pm so come and join us!

Above and Beyond

This week saw the deadline for the Writing Data for Year Six. This simply means that the Teacher Assessed Banding data (Age Related Expectations etc.) has to be sent off to the relevant department so that it be be included in the children's SATS results.

In 6MP, we were on the cusp of producing one of best pieces of writing yet but there were many things conspiring against us to get it finished. We all worked so hard to meet the deadline.
However, there were two young ladies in particular who went above and beyond the call of duty.

These two writing superstars stayed for 20 minutes after school so they could complete their writing. How amazing is that?

Thank you Connie and Mary - you rock!

Transfer Day

Before you know it, Transfer Day comes around and it's time to think about the next academic year. I appreciate that this can be an anxious and exciting time for us all.
Your Homebase Tutor will share the plans for the day with you in the next few days so you know what you are doing and where you are going.

Worth a Mention Children

It won't be a surprise to anyone that the amazing performances on Sports Day was a prominent reason for many children's inclusion on this week's Worth a Mention boards.

Let's start with Year Five:

Now Year Six:

Yes, there is a definite 'theme' here!
Well done EVERYONE - what an incredible, sporty and lovely bunch you are!

Year Six Celebration Assembly

We have a date! Tuesday 16th June at 9.30am. The venue is to be confirmed (Hall or Gym) and it should last for approximately an hour.

Well, that's it for this week.
I hope you all had a lovely, sunny weekend and that you were able to recharge the batteries from yet another busy week. There's so much coming up next week as well so let's make sure that we look after each other!
