Such fun!

Hello and welcome back to the Key Stage Two Blog

What an amazing week that was! Not only did the sun shine virtually every day but Key Stage Two also had a brilliant time during our 'Treat Week'. It was so lovely to be able to reward the children for their hard work over the year and to come off timetable to enjoy an alternative to the academic demands of school life.

We are also continuing to prepare you all for the next phase at DMS. The current Year Six will experience their new Teaching Groups on Monday, Lesson Five and Year Five will find out where they are going to be in due course.

Exciting times ahead!

Fact Finding Mission

On Monday, the new Year Five team met with the majority of the First School teachers so we could discuss our new recruits ahead of September. It was a lovely to see our Year Four colleagues again. It was a very productive meeting and extremely helpful. Thank you to everyone who attended.

Yes, there was cake!

Year Five and Six Cinema Trips

What a fabulous couple of days! I thoroughly enjoyed watching Toy Story Four both days as I was able to see the film in its entirety!
Our Year Five and Six children were an absolute credit to the school and our kind volunteers were amazing. We got everyone there and back in one piece which is quite an achievement!
I hope that you enjoyed the visits from the Ice Cream Van - what a brilliant idea Mrs Ettling!
I still can't believe that no-one saved me anything - on both days!

Weymouth Outdoor Education Centre

The weather was so incredibly kind to the intrepid Year Six children who participated in rock climbing, tunneling and kayaking over two days. I went on the Friday and was blown away by the incredible facilities, experiences and activities that were provided by the staff at WOEC.
Watching the children conquer their fears and working hard as a team was awe-inspiring. So many children were out of their comfort zones but my word, they turned it around beautifully!

My favourite picture!

A HUGE 'Thank You' to Mr Palmer for using his fantastic WOEC contacts to enable this experience to happen in the first place. I also have to say a HUGE 'Thank You' to Mrs Schnorr who went on four trips in five days along with her usual volunteering commitments within the school.
What a pair of Superstars!

We must not forget the AMAZING Miss Enever who organised the trips for us. We hardly saw her as she was on trips everyday except for Monday but everything was organised to an amazingly high level - as usual!

Worth a Mention Children

No WAMS for Year Five this week but there were plenty in Year Six:

When I read the boards, I was so proud of the reasons why you had been included this week.
A huge well done to one and all!

Celebration Assemblies

Just a last reminder about the Celebration Assemblies on Tuesday.

The Year Six Assembly starts at 9.30am in the Hall and will last for approximately an hour.

The Year Five Assembly will start at 2.15pm. It is also in the Hall and will also last for an hour.

Please don't forget to sign in on your arrival.

See you Tuesday!

SATs results

The results are in and have been verified!
They will come home with the Reports during the first half of the week although I know that a lot of the teachers (including myself) would like to speak to the children in person to tell them how they got on.

Whatever the outcome, Year Six please remember that letter that I wrote to you before you sat your exams. I meant every single word...

Buddy Picnic

On Monday, during Lesson 4, the Year Five and Eight children will get together for the last time as Buddies.
Our annual Buddy Picnic is a really fun event and a golden opportunity to say 'Thank You' and 'Goodbye' to the Year Eights.
I am predicting a lot of cakes, biscuits and crisps - Mrs Ray Heaven.
Please don't expect a lot of finished off lunches - there will be full bellies for a while!

Disco Inferno!

On Friday, we had our first ever Year 4/5 Transition Disco and I am happy to report that it was a resounding success! One of my personal highlights has to be Miss Dearden throwing some rather impressive shapes to YMCA!

Never to be forgotten! I hope that everyone who attended had a good evening and had the opportunity to connect with some of their new friends.

Another PTFA triumph - thank you!!!

Apollo here we come!

We are in the thick of rehearsals and prop making ready for our appearance at 'Moonbury Rings' on Friday 19th July. The Year Six classes have been heavily involved in making some of the lanterns for the procession.

I have to say, they are looking extremely impressive! I can't wait to see them in action on the 19th!

Well, that's it for another week. Apologies for being posting this so late but my weekends seem to be as busy as my week days - if not busier!

Have a good weekend and I shall see you back here next week with LOTS to share with you!

Mrs Ray

(who took her duties at WOEC very seriously on Friday. She even hauled a mega pile of marking down with her to the beach. Did she get it finished? You decide...)
