It's been raining but not boring!

Hello and welcome back to the Key Stage Two Blog!

Have you all dried out yet? I think I have the early onset of Trench Foot! I don't think I've seen so much rain for a long time - my poor bunnies Roy and Beryl have been having a quite a few self imposed 'Hutch Days' (the bunny equivalent of Duvet Days I guess?) so you know it's soggy when they beat a hasty retreat to their nearest shelter.
However, the weather certainly didn't dampen the children's enthusiasm when it came to school. I was also very impressed with the number of children who are taking part in the after school clubs, long may it continue!
Anyway, enough of my ramblings, let's crack on with the Blog...

Geography Homework

The children in Year Six have been very busy indeed! The Geography homeworks that have been proudly coming into school are a sight o behold. We are all so impressed with the originality and creativity that has been poured into these incredible projects.
Here is a small selection of the work from 6AD and some of 6PC:

Aren't they brilliant? I shall come round to the other classes in due coarse.
Fantastic!

Lost Jumpers

The Year Five corridor looks gorgeous and tidy in the morning but once we've had a playtime, the whole place goes to wrack and ruin!
I found this poor, unloved and unlabelled jumper in the Year Five corridor on Friday. Someone, somewhere is going to be very chilly in school aren't they? The only problem is that so many jumpers that we are finding are unnamed which makes it nigh on impossible to return to their rightful owners.

If you haven't done so already, please make sure that everything is named. Watching jumpers and their owners reunited it a sight to behold!

Worth a Mention Children

Huge, huge congratulations to all of the marvellous children who found their names on this week's Worth a Mention Boards. I love the fact that all of the subject teachers get involved as well.

Let's start off with Year Five:

Now it's the turn of Year Six...

All the children's names are on the board, ready for the children on Friday morning. Members of staff work hard to make sure that it's all done and dusted as Mrs Cook is demonstrating here:

Look at the concentration on her face!

Golden Time

Oh dear! Roy and Beryl don't look much happier than last week do they? That's because quite a few children missed their Golden Time this week. Reads not being signed and homework seem to be the main offenders this week.

Come on Gang - we can do this!

Homework - you're not alone

As mentioned last week, we do appreciate that getting Homework completed can be a bit of a challenge. Please do remember that we are happy to help out in school.this is what we have on offer...

* Daily Study Group that runs from 1.30pm in the ICT Suite
* Working in the Library but only if you are quiet
* Ms Grassby's Chill Out Zone (lunchtimes are better than break times as you can achieve more in that half hour)

Our Key Stage Two After School Homework Club is starting this Thursday 10th October from 3.30pm - 4.15pm. If you would like your child to attend then please do write a note in the Home/School Diary to give your permission as you would with all after school clubs.

We might see you there?

Sporty Spices

Words from the lovely Mr Roberts:

Thursday 3rd October 2019
DASP Pyramid Sports Fixture at DMS
DMS v St Osmund's Middle School and St Mary's Middle School

Year 5 Football
Year 6 Football

Over 140 pupils from across our 3 Middle Schools converged at the County Town Middle School of DMS.
All participated devotedly, each ardent for some glory that they could relive to passing friends in their respective playgrounds.
For those advocates of active lifestyles-it was a joyous spectacle of guile and agility.
For those in society who regard children as increasingly sedentary-it was a living contradiction.
Sport was the winner this evening,as is normally is-well done DMS pupils!

Kind thanks goes to Miss Clements,Mr Palmer and Mr Murray, for without your efforts, this simply would not happen.

Here are our Year Six Footballers. They look so professional don't they? Well done lads!

I hope you all enjoyed yourselves? You made us extremely proud - well done!

Well, that's it for another week. I hope you all had a good week and that you have had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend?

I look forward to seeing you back here next week with more news and information.

Mrs Ray

(who didn't Parkrun this weekend but went swimming on Saturday morning instead. Well, it's lying down isn't it? With a fair amount of splashing?)
