Will it ever stop?

Hello and welcome back to the Key Stage Two Blog!

It rained, the sun came out, it rained the sun came out and so on and so on!
It certainly has been a week of contrasts hasn't it? I know that our feet have barely touched the ground this week it's been that busy but I guess that's pretty typical of all of our weeks isn't it?

Anyway, enough of the ramblings of The Ray and on with the Blog...

It's all about the clauses...

I don't know about you, but I am loving my English Lessons!
At the moment I am teaching the Year Five children about clauses and this forms part of their homework this week.

This little fella is called Sandy and his 'claws' are really helping us - geddit?

Well, you try and make main and subordinate clauses more interesting!!

Year Five Parent Consultations

Our Year Five Parent Consultations are due to be held on Wednesday, 23rd October 4pm - 6pm and hopefully the letters have made their way home. The purpose of the evening is for the parents/carers who have not yet met or who are not in touch with their child's Homebase Tutor an opportunity to touch base with them. Spaces are limited and appointments are five minutes long.

If it is felt that a further discussion is needed then an appointment can be made for a future date.

For the parents and carers of children in 5EJ, you should have received the message that due to unforeseen circumstances, Mrs James will not be be in school that day. She will however, arrange an alternative date. We will keep you posted and let you know the rescheduled date as soon as possible.

Other members of the Key Stage Two Pastoral Team will also be present for the duration of the evening.

PTFA Meeting

Just a reminder that our rather fabulous PTFA are meeting on Tuesday 15th October at 6pm at Dorchester Middle School. If you are interested in joining our merry band then you will be most welcome. Come to Reception and we will usher you to the correct place!

Worth a Mention Children

Huge congratulations to this week's Worth a Mention Children! I love the fact that so many of the subject teachers get involved and recommend children from their individual lessons so that we are celebrating the academic as well as the citizenship aspect of the children's school lives.

Let's start with Year Six this week:

Now for the mighty Year Fives:

Brilliant!

Well done to all of the children who made it onto the board this week - it is clearly well deserved.

Golden Time

We had a very busy ICT Room this week as 32 children (16 from Year 5 and 16 from Year 6) missed their Golden Time.

Sad bunnies picture time...

The fact they've been having a few 'hutch days' (our equivalent to a 'Duvet Day') has nothing to so with it, honest!

Year Five Celebration Assembly

As mentioned previously, Year Five will be holding their first Celebration Assembly of the academic year on Tuesday, 22nd October. Please be in school for 2.00pm, making sure you sigh in on your arrival. The assembly will start at 2.05pm (or as soon as we can get them off the playground!) and will last for 20 minutes.

In the assembly we will be presenting children with their stripes they have earned through their Achievement Points as well as celebrating other achievements and landmarks.

We look forward to seeing you.

Well, that's it for another week. I hope that you had a good weekend and that Trench Foot still hasn't set in! I shall look forward to seeing you back here next week.

Mrs Ray

(who went to her Goddaughter's Wedding in Sussex at the weekend. Her Goddaughter was the Bridesmaid at her wedding (many, many years ago) and had promised her Mum that she wasn't going to smile at our wedding because she didn't want to do the job. Needless to say, I couldn't stop smiling at hers because it was such a happy occasion!)
