Here's one we prepared earlier...

Hello and welcome back to the Key Stage Two Blog!

So, how was your half term? Has it felt like a holiday or does one day tend to morph into another? I know that's how it feels for me most days!

Since I last wrote I have managed to get out on my bike, been for a run and continued to admire the bunnies. So, nothing different really.  I've been reaping the rewards of the work in my garden and the flowers are starting to bloom and look rather stunning.

 |On the way back from my bike ride on Saturday I spotted this beautiful view at Sturminster Marshall

The glorious view from this Sunday's run

Me and my friend Karen out for a socially distanced run

A few of the plants that have survived the bunnies!

Our last Clap for our NHS Heroes took place on Thursday. Although it was officially the last one, we have agreed that, as a street, we will still meet every week and enjoy our resident Ukulele Band play a variety of numbers for our entertainment. They were very good this week! One of our neighbours kindly supplied us all with a BBQ and everyone sat around in their socially distanced groups. We had a lot of fun! This would never have happened if it wasn't for lock down.

Anyway, the main purpose of this week's Blog is to keep those who are coming back to school on Tuesday in the loop as far as school is concerned.

We have put the returning Year Six children into small groups and have split Homebases rather than teaching groups. We felt that even though social distancing is going to have to happen, it would be good to have familiar faces in your zone. Some of you might be taught by teachers that you hardly know and if that is the case, embrace the change!

You will be spending a lot of the first two days reconnecting with the school, getting used to your new surroundings and learning the new rules that have to be put in place to keep everyone safe.  We all have a duty to look after each other and you need to do your bit too!

Here are a few photographs of what the school looks like now so you know what to expect on Tuesday morning.

Yellow Zone (6YK and 6MW)

Blue Zone (6PC and 6AD)

Red Zone (6KD and 6AD)

Green Zone (all other Year Groups)

Below, you can see what most of the classrooms look like. You will notice that the tables and chairs have been spaced out and you have your very own tray that stays on your desk. This classroom is in the Yellow Zone.

I hope you are reassured - it still looks like the school we know and love doesn't it? The staff have worked really hard to make sure that you know where you can and can't go. Your timetables will help you as well. The zones have been created for a reason so it is your responsibility to make sure that you are in the correct  one!

A text will go out on Monday to let you know which colour zone you are actually in (there might have been a few changes since half term) and which entrance you need to use:

Yellow Zone      Playground
Red Zone           PD Bungalow
Blue Zone          Queen's Avenue
Green Zone        Bus Gates

Members of staff will tell you where you need to go as you won't know your class number. The classes have been named Class One to Class Ten (original, I know!).  The Green Zone is for the children in the other three year groups who have places in school.

Please, please, please don't worry if you get it wrong. There are bound to be mistakes aren't there? Sometimes we will get it wrong and that will be totally understandable in those first few days. I am pretty sure that once you've run through your first day and start to get into the swing of things, any worries that you may have had will disappear and your confidence will grow.

I hope that the pictures have helped to reassure you and to allow those of us who are not going to be in school quite yet to visualise the new set up.

Please, please, please remember to send me your pictures as no one has done for a little while now and although I absolutely love talking about me, it would be nice to share other people's experiences too. Maybe if you have gone back to school you can tell us all about it? No pictures are necessary!

Have a good week everyone! I will be thinking about you ALL and will continue to miss you.

Please remember to continue to stay alert, be safe but above all, be kind to each other.

Take care,

Mrs Ray x
