Business as usual

Hello and welcome back to the Dorchester Middle School Blog!

I hope that you are all well and that you have had a good week?

Covid continues to challenge us on a daily basis but our wonderful school continues to come together to make sure that our brilliant children are the number one priority. The children have been their usual fabulous selves and coped well, all things considered.

Anyway, let's crack on with this week's Blog.

Lounging around!

We are in the process of rearranging and redeveloping the area known as The Hub. We are trying to transform it into a more nurturing environment and have been after a sofa to try and give the room a more 'homely' feel.

We were wracking our brains trying to work out how to get one when Miss Easton had the bright idea of contacting London Lounge in Weymouth. After a little bit of toing and froing, they very kindly agreed to donate one of their ex-display models to us. They even delivered it to us, free of charge!

Here is Miss Easton demonstrating how incredibly comfortable our new sofa is!

Now you know where to find Miss Clements and Miss Easton at the end of a busy day!

We cannot begin to thank London Lounge enough for their extremely kind and generous donation.

This sofa has already changed the whole feel of The Hub so mission accomplished - well done Miss Easton - you are amazing!

Worth a Mention Children

Huge congratulations to all of the children who made it onto this week's Worth a Mention Boards in Key Stage Two. I 'caught' Mrs Sprules writing up her choice of WAM, she looks very pleased with herself doesn't she?!

Let's start with the might Year Six this week:

Now the turn of the equally mighty Year Five:

Well done to each and every one of you.

You continue to make all of us extremely proud of you!

Children's Mental Health Week

The plans for this week (7th - 13th February) are coming along nicely and I will be able to share them with you in full next week.

The Great Field Parkrun have been amazing and are really supportive of us doing a sponsored run on Saturday 12th February. I will endeavour to get sponsorship forms out to you as soon as possible but please do come along and support this event.

I have an image of our pupils in their DMS PE kit turning up and doing their best for an incredible charity!

Being active is such an important part of our mental health and wellbeing but we are not expecting everyone to run this event - walking is completely acceptable!

Please put the date in your diary - the more the merrier!

Ola

This fabulous Spanish display caught my eye earlier in the week and I was determined to get it on this week's Blog. Isn't it fabulous?

Working Together

This week, it was Mr Duffy's turn to deliver the virtual Year Five assembly.

His theme was clear from the start - if we work together we can achieve great things.

He is so right isn't he?

Library - Open for Business

There was a lovely buzz in the school this week as our library finally re-opened! Every English class had a session in there this week and it was a joy to watch children looking at, discussing and choosing books to read.

Mrs Jeffrey is our new Librarian and has lots of exciting plans for the Library.

Interestingly, the playground was very quite on Tuesday.

Do you think everyone was in the Library?!
😏😏😏

...and finally

A HUGE 'Thank You' to those of you who have kindly donated your unwanted board games to us. A special thank you to Jay and his Mum Jo for a bag full of fabulous games including our beloved Connect Four.

Please keep them coming - the more the merrier!

Well, that's it for this week. I hope that you all have a great week and I will look forward to 'seeing' you back here next weekend.

Take care.

Mrs Ray

(who met up with this fabulous lady in the week. Does anyone recognise her?!)
