Inspired!

Hello and welcome back to the Dorchester Middle School Blog!

So, how was your week?
Did you have a good one?
It flew by didn't it?
My week has been eventful but wouldn't life be dull if everything was the same old same old?

One of the things that I have been working hard on is Children's Mental Health Week. Ms Pluck's weekly letter gives a really good overview to what is being planned for the week.

I am really excited about working with Dorset Mind and hope that we can raise as much money as possible for them. We have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure that our children have the best experience possible. I am so grateful to Dorset Mind for their support and 'can do' attitude - it's all terribly exciting!

Right, on with the Blog...

Alan Sugar eat your heart out

In Year Five, our children have been testing, creating and designing their own chocolate. I'm not going to lie, we have had a lot of fun and a decent amount of chocolate may well have been consumed but for educational purposes only, right?

In 5CWT, Maggie the Magpie has been busy assisting in their English lessons. The children have been professional chocolate testers and have been exploring vocabulary connected to all of the senses. I hope that chocolate isn't bad for magpies?

Meanwhile, in 5MW the following children have not only created their product, they have also designed their packaging which they shared with the class.

Aren't they fabulous? They really did put The Apprentice candidates to shame. These children can pitch!

The next step will be to create the adverts - I am so excited to see what the children come up with!

Worth a Mention Children

This week, Year Six take centre stage and quite rightly so.

A HUGE well done to all of the fabulous children whose names have appeared on the boards this week.

Year Five's WAMs will be back next week.

Coming together

Not only did she secure the donation of a sofa from London Lounge, Miss Easton has been busy creating a new addition for our developing Sensory Room.

Impressively, Miss Easton and her partner made, between them, a tepee from scratch. Miss Easton used bed linen to create the actual tent - you can see the thought, care and skill that went into its production.

It's fabulous isn't it? This gorgeous hidey hole is now in our Sensory Room and has been greatly admired by all. More importantly, it has also been used.

Thank you Miss Easton - you really are amazing!

The more the merrier

A HUGE 'thank you' to the kind donations of games that we have received. They have already been put to good use and are played on a daily basis. We still have room for some more so if you are having a post Christmas clear out, please don't forget us!

Chloe in Year Five came up to The Hub at the beginning of the week to give us these two fabulous games.

My times tables are going to be brilliant!

I can see you!

In line with our school's Covid protocol, we are still conducting our assemblies virtually. I spied Miss Clements delivering her Year Eight assembly from The Hub but I could also hear her along the Year Eight corridor.

You can run but you can't hide!

Date for your diary

This week, some of the PTFA met via Zoom to start planning this year's Summer Fair.

Please save Friday 8th July and put it in your diary.

If you could help us at any point of the day then please contact the PTFA who will be extremely grateful as there will be a lot to do.

You can contact the PTFA via email:

Well, that's it for this week. I hope you all have a fabulous week and I will look forward to seeing you back here next week.
