Victorious!

Hello and welcome back to the Dorchester Middle School Blog!

Don’t you just love technology? There was me, thinking that everything was sorted from last week’s technical hitch and low and behold, I am blocked from the Blog again! Oh dear. Typically, it all happens on the week where I want to brag about our fabulous children even more than ever! Will I let technology get the better of me? Never. It just means this post was delayed by a day. Tsk.

Anyway, enough of my moaning and let’s look at the real starts of the show – the wonderful children of DMS.

Superstar SATs Sitters

All of our children are awesome, there is no doubt about that but my word, our Year Six children and their teachers really did go above and beyond last week.

It is safe to say that the SATs Breakfasts were a total hit – it was lovely seeing the children come and get breakfast before school, even on the rainy days.

Well done Mrs James on such an excellent idea and to all of the Year Six Team for being there every morning with a warm welcome and lots of goodies to eat.

We would like to say a HUGE ‘Thank You’ to Tesco, Morrisons and the PTFA for funding this.

We are so proud of the children for being so positive about their SATs and for giving it their very best shot. They handled everything with such maturity and took everything in their stride.

On Friday, the children have a very well-deserved Non-Uniform Day and an afternoon off timetable. The weather was glorious and the children had a fun time.

We now turn our attention back to writing so it’s business as usual on Monday!

Don’t get the hump!

I had the good fortune to witness 5MA’s fabulous assembly on Friday. Every single child participated and performed three short plays to us.

Here are the pictures that I took during the assembly:

Worth a Mention Children

Huge congratulations to all of the children who found their names on the Worth a Mention Boards. Let’s start with Year Six.

Let’s face it – that wasn’t going to be a surprise to anyone was it?

Now for the turn of Year Five.

Well done everyone!

Dates for your diary

Schools are always incredibly busy places at the best of times but the Summer Term is going to be particularly hectic.

As mentioned in Ms Pluck’s letter on Friday, we will be holding our Community Open Morning on Saturday 18th June 10am - 12pm.

Transfer Day is on Thursday 7th July.

The PTFA Summer Fair is on Friday 8th July.

There are more dates to come as we are in the process of finalizing a few events so watch this space!

Parkrun

I was so sad to miss the Parkrun that we participated in for Dorset Mind in February and haven’t had the chance to get back to Dorchester on a Saturday since. However, I am intending to take part in The Great Field Parkrun on 28th May.

Would anyone like to join me?

Well, that’s it for another week. I hope you all have a cracking one and that it will be business as usual next time; the whole technology saga will be nothing more than a distant memory.

Mrs Ray

(who met up with her University Chum on Saturday and watched The Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in years. In fact, the last time she watched it was when Bucks Fizz won it. Ask your parents/grandparents if you’re not sure!)
