Shocking!

Hello and welcome back to the Key Stage Two Blog!

We did it! We managed to prise ourselves out of pyjamas at some ungodly hour to make it back to school on Monday! Hoorah! It was lovely to welcome all the children back to school and to hear of their super holidays and the fabulous presents that they received.

Thank you so, so much for all the generous presents that were given to us - it was extremely kind of you and we were all very touched by your kindness. However, if you are to partly to blame for my bulging waistline then it goes to show that your gift was a definite hit!

Anyway, enough of my Christmas indulgence confessions and on with the Blog!

Hello Mrs Rouse!

Although we were very sad to say 'Goodbye' to Mr Weir last term, we were delighted to welcome Mrs Rouse to Dorchester Middle School and the Year Six Team.

Mrs Rouse is now Homebase Tutor to 6CWr and our new Humanities Faculty Lead.
She was very impressed with her new class who have made her feel extremely welcome and helped her on many levels - I have never heard the class so quiet in the mornings!

Ancient Egypt Day

Due to various circumstances, we have had to postpone our Year Five Ancient Egypt Day. As soon as we have an alternative date then we will let you know as soon as possible. Once the date has been alloacted, we will let you know what the day entails but I warn you now, the children will be able to dress like an Egyptian for the day!

Uniform

We have noticed that a few children in Key Stage Two are not wearing their uniform correctly and as a result of this, we will be carrying out uniform checks next week.

Please remember that black boots are permitted but only if worn underneath a pair of trousers. We have noticed a lot of lovely boots, especially in Year Five, but unfortantely they cannot be worn with skirts. Also, skirts need to be knee length and trainer socks are not permitted.

Fingers crossed that Key Stage Two's uniform is a triumph next week...

Miss Dearden does Year Five English!

She did, honestly! I cleverly managed to wipe all the photographs of this fabulous event off my camera along with everything else! Doh! I can't begin to tell you how gutted I am feeling right now!

Miss Dearden wanted to come and teach Year Five English as she is a self-confessed Secondary Science Teacher. She planned three cracking lessons based around our new English Unit of Work - Myths and Legends.

The children in 5MW had a great time and came away from the experience feeling more confident about using their inference skills and creating expanded noun phrases. I have a sneaky feeling that  the children were a bit disappointed when they had to have boring old me the next day - maybe Miss Dearden could come back for a guest spot some time soon?

Worth a Mention Children

Massive congratulations to all the children who found their names in the Worth a Mention Boards this week.

Let's start with Year Five this week...

Now that's what I call a cracking set of reasons - good work Year Five!

Let's see who is on the Yeat Six Boards this week...

It is lovely to see the whole of 6CWr being Worth a Mention Children for being such superstars for Mrs Rouse - well done!

Golden Time

Well, I am delighted to say that hardly any children missed their Golden Time this week which has made my bunnies very happy indeed! Huge congratulations to the whole classes who achieved their Golden Time - you must be very pleased with yourselves!

My stepfather has renamed Roy (the bunny on the right) Chairman of the Escape Committee and Beryl (on the left) is his accomplice!

Let's keep them happy (and in my garden) by you working hard to achieve your Golden Time next week.

Well, that's it for this week. I hope that coming back to school wasn't too much of a shock for you all and that you are looking forward to all the challenges and experiences that will be coming your way over the next few weeks.

Have a good week and I will look forward to seeing you back here next week.

Mrs Ray

(who is finding it hard to believe that this time last week she was in St Ives with her lovely sister-in-law - where did that time go?!)
