De ja vu

Hello and welcome back to the Dorchester Middle School Blog!

I hope you all had a super half term. The timing was fortuitous wasn't it? I definitely like the idea of a two week half term.

I hope that you all managed to get out and about despite the mixed weather experiences?

I managed to catch up with a few members of my family which was fabulous. A definite highlight was going to see my father-in-law in St Ives - it's such a beautiful place with so much to offer its visitors. I did go for a couple of runs whilst I was there but the hills might have been mountains as far as I was concerned.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, let's crack on with the Blog.

We will remember them...

I am writing this on Sunday where we have all just stood on our doorsteps and remembered the incredible people who have fought for our freedom and whose sacrifices can never be comprehended by so many of us.

As a community, we have had a lot of challenges thrown our way in recent months and here we are again, in our second lock down. We live amongst incredible people who work incredibly hard to keep us safe and whose sacrifices can also never be fully comprehended.

I cannot begin to thank those around us, especially those who we may not be aware of, who continually put others before themselves so that we can live as safely and healthily as possible.

We salute you.

Worth a Mention Children

HUGE congratulations to all of the amazing children who found their names on this week's Worth a Mention Boards.

As you can see, we all contribute to the selection process so regardless of how you may feel about different subjects, we all recognise the effort and graft that you put into your learning.

Let's start with awesome Year Sixes this week...

Now it's the turn of terrific Year Fives:

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

Children in Need

This year we will be raising money for Children in Need by holding a non uniform day this Friday in exchange for the bargain price of £1.

Please remember that although we are not in uniform, we expect you to dress sensibly and appropriately for school.

If you have PE that day, make sure that your non school uniform clothing choice allows you to still be able to do PE as you won't be able to get changed.

Our fabulous school shop normally makes hundreds of pounds through selling Children in Need merchandise so it's a shame that we cannot do that this year.

Now, where did I put my Pudsey ears headband...

Whats App

I know I have said this before but I will say it again.

Whats App is for children who are 16 and over.

When writing messages to each other, it is very easy to forget that there is a human being, with feelings, on the receiving end of it.

Words are a very powerful weapon - once they are out there, it is hard for them to just disappear. You can delete the words you have sent but the memory of them stay imprinted for a long, long time.

Please be sensible and think carefully about what you write before you send it.

Golden Time

Everyone is getting in to the swing of Golden Time which is terrific.

Just a quick reminder of what the children need to do:

1. Have their Home/School Diaries signed for the previous week.
2. Hand their homework in on time.
3. Don't receive any Behaviour Points.

Easy, right?!

Uniform

Our children look so smart in their uniforms!

However, we have noticed that a few of the children are missing ties (they are back in stock) and trainer socks seem to be creeping in. Unfortunately, they are are not uniform.

We will continue to do spot checks to make sure that they children are wearing the correct uniform.

Busy, busy!

Whilst taking pictures of the Worth a Mention Boards, I could hear the unmistakable noise of a staple gun working its magic on a display board.

It was Ms Woodley adding to her already impressive display of the work that her class have completed this term.

Look what I found in Year Six...

So impressive!
I love the fact that the boards in Key Stage Two are reflecting the fabulous work that the children are producing in lessons.

Well, that's it for this week.
I hope that you have a good week and that you and your families stay safe.

See you next week!

Mrs Ray

(who is wondering if Miss Easton can make a Toilet Pass for the Ladies toilet at school...)
